Koinonia Academy
Events and Programs


Christmas Program:  This traditionally occurs the first weekend of December.  It is an all-school event and features Latin and traditional carols, "small playlet" (Dec., 2006 the students preformed an adaptation of Charles Dickens' "The Christmas Carol"; a recitation of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and contemporary Christmas songs).  Students serenade guests, singing "Here We Come A-Wassaling" as they serve guests at a post-performance reception.

Spring Program: traditionally occurs the first weekend in June.  It is an all-school event and features Gregorian chant, four part singing, poetry recitation, a play, and traditional school songs.

May Crowning: This occurs the first Wednesday in May.  After Mass, there is a traditional May crowning of the Blessed Mother, followed by the rosary.  Family, friends, and benefactors of the Academy are invited.

Senior High Trip to Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada: This traditionally occurs in May for all senior high students, interested board members, faculty and friends.  It is an overnight event. We see two plays-one of which is a Shakespearean play, which has been studied and seen on film before hand, and one of which is a musical. Tours of Stratford, the festival costume warehouse, and a private meeting with a cast member. as well as a formal dinner are featured.

Architectural Tour:  This occurs traditionally in April.  Senior high students study  specific architectural terms and styles in art class.  They then take a tour of local architectural sights over a two day period.

Graduate Luncheon: This occurs on graduation day.  Students serve the graduate and guests at a sit-down luncheon.  Humorous songs and light entertainments by the students are featured.

Equestrian Club: This occurs during the summer and is open to all interested students and no additional cost.  Students are offered individualized instruction in western or English style of horsemanship.
